The first was color matching the really unique look of these stones. I wanted to highlight the darker tones in it, but they were difficult to isolate. I also wanted to have some small nod to that gorgeous orange. I think I succeeded almost perfectly with the darker tones, but the lighter color match wasn't quite as good. I am still very happy with the overall look but I think the 15\/0s that I was able to source have just a bit too much yellow in them compared to the stones. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003e Miriam Jasper is also known as Calligraphy Stone, Elephant Skin Jasper, or Arabic Stone. (There are tons of other cool ones but these are my favorites.) It gets its unique striations from fossilized shells, vegetation, and bones. This stone is only found around the Himalayan mountains. Miriam Jasper is highly recommended for meditation as it is credited with aligning chakras and cleansing the spirit. This power is attributed to its ancient origins and the way it was formed with the creation of the Himalayas. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003e I really enjoyed working on these pieces I liked making a bit more of a complicated border for the stones. Usually the more complicated the stone the more simple I make the setting but when I had these ones in a simple setting the setting just disappeared. Not in a good way, it was just overpowered. So I kept adding to it until it all felt cohesive. A friend of mine, in his 40s or 50s, introduced me to his grandmother, in her 80s or 90s, and she showed me a collection of stones that her father had cut. He was a lapidary and silversmith and she still had so many of his pieces. She was willing to let me go through them and pick out a few to buy. I saw this set of three gembones of course I had to jump on them. I knew it would make the most amazing set. I didn't know if I wanted to do earrings and a necklace, a statement bracelet with all three, or a compound pendant. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003e Obviously, I ended up settling on earrings and pendant. Before I put the red and grey ornamentation on I was really leaning towards compound pendant. But I wanted to try to embellish the bezels first and see what I thought of that. Once I had I knew they were perfect. I couldn't take it back apart to make the compound necklace. Sort of, I made two pairs and let her choose which piece she preferred. This was the pair that she passed on. She chose the lavender and white quartz drops. One stripe all the way around like this uses exactly 76, and then the three in the stud made it 82. So, it was a great way to use up my beads. It brings me a lot of satisfaction to use up beads. When there are only a few like that left over I put them into a color sorted (all greens for example) blended box and eventually I will make a mix and match pair once I have enough. I feel like white being the foremost color makes these able to compliment and match any outfit, especially if there are hints of green elsewhere in it.
