These lovely falcons eye earrings are a part of my "Estate collection" which means that these stones were part of the collection of my friends Great Great Grandfather who was a lapidary over 100 years ago. He didn't keep good records so we don't know exactly when these were cut but I consider them to be antique stones simply due to the fact that they were cut so long ago!
Falcon's eye is a subset of Tigers eye whereby the stone has turned a very subtle (usually subtle, occasionally dark) blue! These stones are largely the same brown that you expect but distinctly more green than you would normally see in a tigers eye, as evidenced by that blue color mixing with the yellowy brown of the natural color. Had they been left in the ground for a few more decades/centuries they may have turned fully blue!
I decided to pair them with a stainless-steel fishhook for the earrings to make them kinder on metal sensitive ears.
